Karakteristik dan Pengetahuan Ibu tentang Stimulasi Dini Berkaitan dengan Perkembangan Anak Usia Pra Sekolah June Ririn Mbeo1*, Lina Dewi Anggraeni2 1,2Jurusan Keperawatan, Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Kesehatan Sint Carolus Jakarta *E-mail: juneririn@gmail.com Abstract Background: Mother’s characteristics and knowledge about early stimulation related to the development of pre-school age children. Children development is influenced by early stimulation, especially at the preschool age. Stimulation depends on the people around the child, that includes mother’s knowledge, age, education, occupation, number of children, and socioeconomic. The purpose of this research was to know the relationship of mother’s characteristics and children development. Methods: The research method was quantitative, design cross-sectional study, used questionnaires. Total samples of 74 mothers and children, use statistical test of Chi-square and Kendall’s tau-c. The research instrument was the questionnaire of respondents characteristics and questions of knowledge about early stimulation. Results: The results showed that the majority of respondent’s occupations are housewives (58,1%) and 69 mothers have good knowledge (93,2%). There is a significant relationship between mother’s occupation and children development (p-value 0,022) and mother’s knowledge (p-value 0,05). Conclusion: The conclusion showed that early stimulation requires the role of a mother, especially mother’s knowledge and occupation related to the length of time the stimulation is given.
