Abstract: | Abstract Background: A cataract is an opacification condition of the lens of the eye. These conditions cause a decrease in patients' quality of life. The reduction in the quality of life of cataract patients is caused by sociodemographic characteristics (age, education, artistry, income, sex) and the presence of clinical factors (bilateral of cataracts, duration of cataracts, eye vision and comorbid). Objective: To analyze clinical factors that affect cataract patients' quality of life at Dr YAP Hospital. Methods: The research design was observational analytic with a "CrossSectional" design. The instrument used to measure life quality is the Indonesian version of the Short Form-6 Dimension (SF-6D). The sample was 464 cataracts patients at the Yogyakarta Dr.YAP Hospital who examined in June 2019-January 2020. The data collected was performed a statistical test using the Mann-Whitney U test and the Kruskal-Wallis H test to see the significance of the difference between the research variables and utility values. Results: 464 cataract respondents with an average age of 63 years, with an average utility value of 0.759. The domain with many health problems from the SF-6D questionnaire was pain (76.1%), followed by mental health (73.3%) and physical function (64.0%). Statistical test results showed that the p-value of quality of life in the eye clinic factors that experienced cataracts (0,000), eye vision (0,000) and comorbidity (0.031) showed a significant difference. Conclusion: Factors that affect the life quality of cataract patients are comorbid, bilateral cataracts and visual acuity. Keywords: |
