dc.description.abstract | Abstract Background: The skin of red dragon fruit (Hylocereus lemairei) has potential as a raw material for cosmetics, because it has a high enough antioxidant content which can be used as a skin moisturizer and prevent dry skin. Objective: This study aims to determine the physical stability of the red dragon fruit peel extract (Hylocereus lemairei) which is formulated into a cream that can be used as a moisturizer on the hands and the whole body. Methods: The cream was made in 3 series of concentrations, namely 4%, 6% and 8% and the cream base as a negative control. Cream stability testing includes organoleptic, homogeneity, type of cream, pH test, spreadability, viscosity, skin irritation test, preference test and preparation stability test including cycling test, mechanical test, and stability test during storage at low temperatures (4 ± 2°C) and room temperature (30°C). Results: The results showed that the red dragon fruit peel extract (Hylocereus lemairei) can be formulated in the form of a cream and has a fairly good stability during the storage process. Conclusion: Red dragon fruit skin extract (Hylocereus lemairei) has good stability as a cream preparation that can be used as a moisturizer for the skin of the hands and the whole body.
