Abstract: The formulation development of a Salam leaf extract (Syzygium polyanthum W.) as an antihyperlipidemic that can disintegrate quickly on the tongue is needed to accelerate drug onset and provide comfort, especially in elderly hyperlipidemic patients who has difficulty in swallowing drugs. The purpose of this study was to determine the ratio of crospovidone and croscarmellose sodium that was able to produce optimum physical properties of Fast Disintegrating Tablet (FDT). FDT was made by using the wet granulation method with varied crospovidone and croscarmellose sodium concentrations ranging from 2% to 5%. The FDT physical properties test results were analyzed using the Simplex Lattice Design (SLD) method of the Design Expert 10.1 program. The combination of the two superdisintegrants influenced the physical properties response, namely decreasing tablet hardness, disintegration time, and wetting time as well as increasing the friability of bay leaf extract FDT The optimum formula was obtained in a combination of crospovidone and croscarmellose sodium with a ratio of 25 mg: 10 mg in 500 mg tablet. The optimum formula had a hardness of 4.21 kg, a friability of 0.52%, a wetting time of 106.65 seconds, and a disintegration time of 55.73 seconds. The analysis results with the one sample t-test showed that the SLD equation was valid to be used to compose a formula that provides the optimum FDT parameters.
