Zebrafish (Danio rerio), previously known as Brachydanio rerio , is a small tropical freshwater fish species native to South Asia and the Ganges river in India. Zebrafish can be applied to models of obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Obesity is a trigger for T2DM. The aims of this article review can provide information and increase readers' understanding that zebrafish is an ideal model for obesity and T2DM. The article review method was carried out by tracing published scientific articles with national and international standards using keywords such as “"Obesity, zebrafish, model", "Hyperglycemia, zebrafish, model" or "zebrafish for hyperglycemia" and "Diabetes mellitus type 2, zebrafish, model". Zebrafish model of obesity and T2DM induced by food and drug show ed the advantages of being obese as in humans and other mammals. In addition, zebrafish that was induced by the search method for blood sugar levels and exogenous impaired insulin response. The provision of alternative therapies from natural ingredients such as GTE, palmaria mollis, diosgenin, and cinnamon powder in zebrafish gives good enough results so that it can be considered as an alternative model for other animals.en_US
