Abstract: Azolla (Azolla filiculoides Lam.) is an aquatic fern of the Salviniaceae family. Azolla filiculoides used as natural feed that are abundantly available in nature but have not been optimally utilized. Azolla could be symbiotized with Cyanobacteria. Azolla has bioactive compounds as antioxidants and tyrosinase inhibitors. The purpose of this study was to measure antioxidant activity by DPPH method (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazin) and tyrosinase inhibitor from ethanol extract of Azolla filiculoides by ELISA method in vitro with L-tyrosine and L-DOPA (L-3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine) substrate. Extraction by maceration method and using 96% ethanol as solution. The result of phytochemical analysis showed that azolla extract contains flavonoid, tannins, saponins, steroids and triterpenoids. The phytochemical compounds potentially as antioxidants and tyrosinase inhibitory, particularly flavonoid and tannin compounds. Antioxidant activity assay showed that the ethanol extract of Azolla filiculoides was strong with IC50 23.00 ppm. Tyrosinase inhibitor activity assay showed that tyrosinase inhibition activity on diphenolase activity (IC50 996.60 ppm) more effective than monophenolase activity (IC50 1893.09 ppm).
