Coloring of fabrics for textiles can use natural dyes (ZPA) and synthetic dyes (ZPS. The material chosen in this study is red dragon fruit skin waste. Red dragon fruit skin contains anthocyanins which can provide red to blue color thus it is possible for use as a natural textile dye. The purpose of this study was to determine the possibility of using red dragon fruit skin (Hylocereus polyrhizus) waste for dyeing primissima unbleached plain cloth and to determine the results of color darkness, color fastness to washing, staining of white cloth and color fastness against sunlight. The independent variables (X) in this study were mordant alum, quicklime, and tunjung. The dependent variable (Y) in this study were color darkness, color fastness to washing soap, staining to white cloth and color fastness to sunlight. The control variable in this study was the extraction of heat with a concentration of 750 gr and 7.5 liter of water. The cloth used was primissima unbleached plain cloth with a 1194 x 94 thread construction and thread number CM 50 with a size of 40 x 40 cm, which was dyed for 6 times in 30 minutes’ period and mordanted for 30 minutes. Data collection techniques used in this study were laboratory tests including test of color darkness, color fastness to washing, staining of white cloth and color fastness against sunlight. Data were analyzed descriptively based on laboratory test results. The descriptive analysis result shows that the darkest color was found on mordant tunjung with R% 8.91. The result of color fastness test on washing shows that mordant alum and quicklime generate a score of 3-4 which belongs to “good” criteria and mordant tunjung generates a score of 4 which was better than the coloring using mordant alum or quicklime. The result of staining test on white cloth shows a score of 4-5 which is “good” on mordant alum and quicklime and a score of 4 on mordant tunjung. Color fastness test against sunlight shows a good result with a score of 4 on mordant alum and quicklime and a score of 4-5 on mordant tunjung. The conclusion of this study is that the quality of color darkness in the three mordants is in “dark” criteria and the average result of color fastness tests are good.
