Abstract

Oral health is a condition where teeth and mouth are free from bad breath, good gum, teeth and mouth strength, the absence of plaque and tartcr. Dental and oral health services as an integral part of overall health services have established dental anrJ ot'al health status indicator Dental and oral disease is a community disease that can attack all age groups that are progressive and accuntulative. T'he purpose o/'this study is to determine the relationship ofparents'knowledge about dental. and oral health with the incidence of dental caries in children in kindergarten- Kanak Nurul Hasanah Kelurahan Pasar Sipirok. The type and design of'the study is qualitative with the Cross Sectional method. The study was conducted aÍ Nurul Hasanah Kindergarten with Accidental Sampling techniques and the number of samples was 42 parents of students. T'he analysis was conducted hy Chi Square Ï'est, the results showed there was a relationship between parents' knowledge about dental and oral health with the incidence of dental caries in children in Nurul Hasonah Kindergarten, Pasar sipirok village with p value (Sig) :' 0.048 <0.05. 'l.he re,tults o/'this study recomntend that parents have a responsibilityfttr the health rf fhmily memhers, especial.ly children, hecause parents must have sfficient knowledge about oral health and dental caries. Knowledge about heatth will influence hehavior as a long-term result of health education
