Abstract: Cancer is one of the leading causes of death throughout the world. Cancer has caused around 8.2 million deaths. Data from the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC, 2012) revealed that in 2012 there were 14,067,894 new cases of cancer and 8,201,575 deaths from cancer throughout the world. Early detection of cervical cancer recommended in the Puskesmas was examination using the IVA method. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of motivation to the action of inspection of visual acetate acid (IVA) in married women as an effort to detect cervical cancer in Gunungtua Health Center North Padang Lawas Regency in 2018. This type of research was descriptive analytic research with cross sectional design. The population in this study were all 342 people in the Old Mountain of Tonga. with the technique of sampling total sampling, the total sample was 97 WUS. The results obtained p value 0.940 <0.05 means that there is a relationship between motivation of mothers with IVA examination measures. It is recommended that the mother should continue to increase her knowledge about IVA examination in order to prevent cervical cancer through print or electronic media and actively participate in health education provided by health workers.
