Abstract: In improving the quality of the environment that either of them is lack of latrine healthy and comply with health standards. Of data from the World Health Organization (WHO), which is cited by the Ministry of Health, informed that death is rooted in poor water quality and sanitation, diseases caused by poor sanitation in Indonesia is a diarrheal disease by 72% (MoH RI, 2013). Still according to WHO data cited by the Ministry of Health in 2014 there were about 55 million people in Indonesia are still doing defecation. In Indonesia, there are four major health impacts caused by human waste disposal and poor sanitation, namely diarrhea, typhoid, polio, and worm infection. The research objective was to determine the factors associated with the behavior of people on defecation in the village of Padang District Simanosor Alternating North Padang Lawas District Year 2016. analytic descriptive research method with a population of 394 inhabitants and a sample of 79 family heads Theresultswereobtainedfromthechisquaretestknownfactorsrelatedto defecation behavior such as knowledge (p=0.040), habits (p= 0.000) and the role oftheofficer(p=0.000). The conclusion from this research that should health workers in Puskesmas Gunungtua be more active to improve education about health so that people's knowledge of defecation and its aftermath as well as the use of toilet healthyfamilysomuchbetter.
