Abstract

The incidence of cancer in the word entered a critical period,where each year the incidence of cancer is increasing.There are many types of cancer in the word one of which is cancer of the cervix. Until now, cervical cancer is the cause of most cancer deaths in developing countries. The study aims to determine whether there is a relationship of knowledge about cervical cancer with Pap Smear in women’s behavior in the village IV Losung Padangsidimpuan districts southofPadangsidimpuancity2016. Design of this research is Descriptive Correlational with Cross Sectional. Total population in this study was 80. The Sampling thechnique used is sampling purposive, and obtainted 80 respondens. Analisis of the data by univarite and bivariate analysis with a significance level of 0,05. The results showed that the respondent’s knowledge was less (46,2%), while the result of pap smear is not checked(62,5%). Chi square test result show the value (<0,000<0,05), which means that there is a relasionship of knowledge about cervical with pap smear in the mother’s behavior. The less knowledge about pap smear mother, the mother willnotperformpapsmear. Suggested to the parties concerned to participate in improving the knowledgeofthepapsmear.
