Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship of hygiene maintenance behavior of womanhood with the incidence of abnormal vaginal discharge in adolescent girls. This research method using the correlation design with cross sectional approach. The research was done at the Pondok Pesantren Darul Istiqomah Padangsidimpuan 2016 against 37 young women taken by using randomsamplingtechniquebyobservingtheinclusioncriteria. Measuring instrument used was a questionnaire to see the behavior of the maintenance of cleanliness of womanhood and the incidence of abnormal vaginal discharge in adolescent girls, as well as demographic karasteristik sheet to see karasteristik respondents. The analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis techniqueschi-squere testusingSPSS(StatisticalProductAndService Solution). Results of the study 37 respondents indicated that there was a significant relationship between hygiene maintenance behavior of womanhood with the incidence of abnormal vaginal discharge in adolescent girls (p-value = 0.000; α = 0.05). It can be concluded that there is a relationship between the behavior of themaintenanceofcleanlinessfemininitywithabnormalvaginaldischarge. Based on the results of this study are expected for the educational institutions in order to provide facilities and pre means for female students in maintainingthecleanliness, eg bathrooms,clean wateranda toilet,aswellas the need to conduct outreach and overall supervision by the relevant agencies, about the importance of keeping the behavior of the maintenance of cleanliness femininitytoreduce theoccurrenceofabnormalvaginaldischarge.
