Abstract: The initiation of early initiation breast-feeding is one opportunity in giving mother’s milk for the baby in the first-hour of the birth. The initiation can be done in the process of labor as well as one hour after, here, it is needed to catch-down the baby with lying-flat on the stomach position after cleaning, and the baby needs to have skin-contact with the mother, having the nipple and getting the monastery of the first mother’s milk. This research is conducted to know the effect of early initiation breast-feeding toward prevention of hypothermia for the newborn baby in Local Government Clinic of Gunung Tua Kabupaten Padang Lawas Utara in the year 2021. The quays-experimental research is kind of research method that used by the research. The population belongs to mother who gave birth in May-June 2021 period in the clinic, namely about 22 mothers. Then random sampling is used to get the sample in which it is taken by using slovin-formula, hence, the sample is taken based on 18 mothers. Based on the statistic-wilcoxon test with the level of trust 95% (α=0.05), it is gained that there is the effect of early breast-feeding toward prevention of hypothermia for the newborn baby with value (p- value = 0.001 and value z = -3.317), here, it is expected the effort of initiation breastfeeding should be done to get more benefit of its for the baby as well as the mothers.
