Research Report, August 2020 Seri Wahyuni Harahap The Effect of Giving Katuk Leaf Stew on Breast Milk Production in Post Partum Mothers in Purbatua Village in 2020 ABSTRACT Breastfeeding is very important for optimal growth and development, both physically and mentally and for the intelligence of the baby. Therefore, breastfeeding needs the attention of mothers and health workers so that the breastfeeding process can be carried out properly. In addition, breastfeeding can reduce the risk of infant mortality. The benefits of exclusive breastfeeding are very broad and varied, especially for mothers and babies and families. For mothers and babies, exclusive breastfeeding will foster a relationship of love and affection between mother and newborn. This is the beginning of the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding. For families, exclusive breastfeeding will bring benefits from economic, psychological and convenience aspects. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Katuk leaf decoction on breast milk production in postpartum mothers in Purbatua Village in 2020. This type of research is a quantitative study with a pre-experimental design whose design uses the one group pretest-posttest desaign, because this study aims to compare the results of the intervention group pretest and posttest intervention. The population in this study were all post partum mothers in the village of Purbatua, Southeast Padangsidimpuan District, Padangsidimpuan City as many as 24 respondents. The sample in this study were 21 respondents using the Slovin formula. The analysis used was paired sample t-test. The results showed that the results of the paired sample t-test using SPSS version 22 showed the value of p = 0.000 <α = 0.05, this means that Ho is rejected Ha accepted. The results of measuring the baby's weight on milk production before being given treatment in the intervention group obtained an average pretest value of 3295.24 to the posttest average value of measuring baby's body weight on milk production of 3616.67 after being given katuk leaf decoction.
