The chapters will provide the reader with a practical focus underpinning the theory of nursing – the art and science of caring. Throughout the text the reader is reminded that the nurse is accountable for his or her actions and omissions at all times, and because of this, care must be delivered in such a way that it is evidence based. In this edition we have made a number of other changes; for example, every chapter explicitly states what its aims are; we have called these learning opportunities and have done this in an attempt to encourage learning. There are also pre- and post-chapter quizzes for each chapter.en_US
