UNDERGRADUATE NURSING STUDY PROGRAM UNIVERSITY AUFA ROYHAN PADANGSIDIMPUAN Research Report, July 2020 Rahmat Hidayat Rangkuti THE EFFECT OF GIVING WARM GINGER COMPRESSES ON THE NECK TO DECREASE THE INTENSITY OF HEADACHES IN PATIENTS WITH HYPERTENSION IN THE WORKING AREA OF PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER AT PADANGMATINGGI Abstract Warm compress is one of the management of pain by providing heat energy through conduction, where the heat can cause vasodilation (dilation of blood vessels), increase muscle relaxation thereby in creasing circulation an increasing intake, oxygen, and nutrients to the tissues. This study aims to determine the effect of giving warm ginger compresses on the neck to decrease the intensity of headaches in patients with hypertension puclic health center at padangmatinggi. This study used a quasi experimental design with one group pretest-postest deign. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with a samples of 19 respondents. This research was conducted in the warkig area public health center at padangmatinggi in april-june 2020. The result of using Wilcoxonobtained pvalue = 0,002 (<0,05). The conclusion that there is a difference in the average intensity of headache after a warm ginger compress is given.
