dc.description.abstract | NURSING PROGRAM GRADUATE PROGRAM FACULTY OF HEALTH, AUFA ROYHAN UNIVERSITY IN PADANGSIDIMPUAN CITY Research report, August 2020 Sri Wahyuni The Effect of Warm Compress on the Smoothness of Breastfeeding in Breastfeeding Mothers in the Work Area of the Hutaimbaru Public health center Abstract Breast milk is a complex food because it contains complete nutrients, which are ideal nutrients to support optimal health, growth and development of babies. Very good breast milk production is known from the adequate needs of breastfeeding for babies supported by several factors such as peace of mind and mind, breast care, rest patterns and children's sucking. Breast care factors by cleaning the breasts with warm water to stimulate the breasts affect the pituitary to release the hormones prolactin and oxytocin to facilitate breastfeeding. Warm compresses of the breasts during breastfeeding will increase the flow of milk from the milk-producing glands. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of warm compresses on the smoothness of breast milk in nursing mothers. This type of research is quantitative research. The research design used a Quasi Experiment, namely the pre-test-post-test design with a total sample of 14 respondents. The population in this study were all breastfeeding mothers in the working area of the Hutaimbaru Health Center. The sample in this study was determined by using the Accidental Sampling technique so that the total number of respondents was 17 respondents. The statistical test used is the Wilcoxon test. The results showed that there was a difference in the fluency of breastfeeding after the intervention with a P-value of 0.002, the result was <0.05. The results of this study are expected to be used as an alternative therapy for breastfeeding mothers who experience breastfeeding problems.
