Abstract: NURSING SCIENCE STUDY PROGRAM AUFA ROYHAN UNIVERSITY OF PADANGSIDIMPUAN Research Report, July 2019 Imelda EkaPutri THE EFFECT OF LOW SODIUM SALT ON REDUCTION OF BLOOD PRESSURE IN HYPERTENSION PATIENTS Abstract Based on the WHO in 2015, hypertension was sufferd by 1,13 billion people and 9,4 million people died to hypertension each year and in North Sumatra sufferers increased every year. One alternative medicine to treat hypertension is low sodium salt. Consuming low sodium salt stabilize blood flow which carries nutrients to each cell tissue. This study aims to determine The Effect Of Low Sodium Salt On Reduction Of Blood Pressure In Hypertension Patients. This type of research is quantitative research and the design of this study uses quasi-experimental or experimental method with one group pretest-posttest design. Analysis of data using a computer with the SPSS program. Analysis of differences in mean blood pressure before and after the intervention using paired t test. The results showed the characteristics of respondents; age: the highest frequency is 56-65 years old (37,5%); most female sex (83,3%); the highest level of education is high school graduation (50,0%); the status/ type of work most housewives (58,3%). The sampling technic used was the Slovin formula with 24 respondents. The results of data analysis using paired t test with a p value of 0,000 (p<0,05). So it can be concluded that there is an effect of low sodium salt on reduction of blood pressure in hypertension patients.
