Osteoarthritis, also referred to as degenerative disease, is one of the most common medical problems affecting women and is the most common cause of long-term disability in patients over 65 years of age. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving ginger stew compresses to reduce the level of joint pain in the elderly (osteoarthritis). This research is a quantitative study with a quasi-experimental research design with one group pre-test and post-test design. The population in this study amounted to 85 respondents, obtained a sample of 20 respondents conducted at the Pintu Padang Health Center. The statistical test used was the Wilcoxon test with a value of p = 0,000 which means that there was an effect of giving ginger stew compresses to a decrease in the level of joint pain in the elderly. The results of this study are expected to be used as an alternative intervention and treatment before using pharmacological drugs for osteoarthritis sufferers.
