Abstract: | THE NURSING SCIENCE PROGRAM AUFA ROYHAN UNIVERSITY OF PADANGSIDIMPUAN Research Report, July 2019 Rika Hidayana Siagian Relationship between duration of infusion and the incidence of phlebitis Abstract Phlebitis can occur, one of which is due to the length of the infusion, as if the replacement of the IV hose is 72 hours. The purpose of this study was to determine the long association between infusion and the incidence of phlebitis. This type of research is quantitative research and research design using a descriptive cohort. The population in this study were all patients who received infusion in June-December 2018 in an adult inpatient room with an average monthly rate of 355 people. The sample in this study were 54 people taken using stratified random sampling technique. Data analysis in this study was univariate and bivariate analysis using the chi-square test with a significance value of p <0.05. The results of this study indicate that there is a long relationship between infusion and the incidence of phlebitis in Padangsidimpuan Hospital Padangsidimpuan with a p value of 0,000. The results of this study are recommended so that patients reduce mobilization of the location of infusion stabbing area, nurses do infusion according to Standard Operating Procedure and replace abocath maximum 72 hours.
