Abstract: Abstract Background: Currently various trendy beverages and other innovative drinks have become widespread in various places. The presence of these trendy beverages is increasingly popular in Indonesia, especially among the younger generation. Unbeknownst to many, excessive consumption of sweet beverages is one of the indicators that can have a negative impact on mental health. Purpose: To examine the correlation between sweet beverages consumption behavior and mental health among nursing students. Method: Descriptive analytical design with a cross-sectional approach involving 239 nursing students. The measuring instruments used were the behavior of consuming sweet drinks using a risky food consumption behavior questionnaire and a questionnaire to measure mental health using an emotional mental health questionnaire. Spearman's correlation was used to test the relationship between variables. Results: The highest frequency of sweet beverage consumption behavior among nursing students was in the category of 1-2 times per week, with 78 participants (32.6%). A high prevalence of mental disorders was found among 186 participants (77.8%). The sweet beverage consumption behavior correlated significantly with mental health (r=0.027, p=0.049). Conclusion: Nursing students who regularly consumed sweet beverages also experienced more severe mental disorders. Reducing sweet beverage intake might be considered as part of strategies to improve their mental health. Suggestion: For students to make behavioral changes by choosing healthier beverage products and for lecturers to pay more attention to the lecture load given to students and also often carry out recreational activities with students.
