dc.description.abstract | Abstract Background: Stunting is a problem that occurs in children's growth and development, in the form of poor nutrition, recurrent infections, and inadequate psychosocial support. Stunting occurs due to two causal factors, namely direct and indirect factors. The mother's level of knowledge is one of the causes of whether a child will experience stunting or not. Increased knowledge occurs because of the mother's willingness to follow and know the efforts that can be made to prevent stunting. A form of maternal knowledge about stunting in toddlers can be in the form of the mother's attitude towards her child's growth. If some mothers have negative attitudes, their actions and behavior will tend to be negative and can cause nutritional problems in children. Purpose: To determine the effect of health education using the focus group discussion (FGD) method on the knowledge and attitudes of mothers with stunting toddlers. Method: Quantitative research with a quasi-experimental design using a one group pretest-posttest approach was conducted at the Jambe Community Health Center with 32 participants. Sampling used a total sampling technique. Univariate and bivariate data analysis used the paired sample t-test statistical test with a confidence level of 95% or p < 0.05 Results: The p value is 0.000 (< 0.05), indicating the influence of health education using the focus group discussion (FGD) method on mothers' knowledge about stunting toddlers. The results of statistical tests using the paired samples test on the attitudes of mothers of toddlers obtained a p value of 0.000 < 0.05. Based on these results, it was found that there was an influence of health education using the FGD method on the attitudes of mothers with stunting toddlers. Conclusion: Mothers' knowledge and attitudes can influence children's growth and development so that they do not experience stunting. Suggestion: Knowledge is a very important domain for shaping a person's actions, so mothers' knowledge about stunting toddler’s needs to be expanded further. If a toddler's nutritional status is good, coupled with complete immunization, it will further improve the toddler's health status indicators. Apart from that, it is necessary to maintain clean sanitation and the family environment to prevent children from various diseases in the surrounding environment.
