Abstract: Abstract Background: Coronary heart disease is caused by blockages in the blood vessels of the heart. Cardiac catheterization can detect narrowing or blockages in the blood vessels of the heart. Anxiety is common in patients who will undergo a cardiac catheterization procedure. Benson's relaxation technique is a relaxation technique that can reduce anxiety in patients who will undergo catheterization. Purpose: To determine the effect of Benson relaxation technique on anxiety levels in patients undergoing cardiac catheterization. Method: A quasi-experimental design with a sample size of 40 people divided into intervention and control groups. The instrument used was the Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale (HADS) questionnaire to measure anxiety levels. While data analysis used the T-dependent test and the T-independent test. Results: Before administering the Benson relaxation technique intervention, the two groups did not show differences in anxiety (p=0.0567). After participants in the intervention group received the Benson relaxation technique, the participants' anxiety decreased significantly (p < 0.001). Anxiety in the intervention and control groups was significantly different after the intervention was carried out (p < 0.001). Conclusion: Benson's relaxation technique is effective in reducing anxiety levels in patients undergoing cardiac catheterization. Suggestion: Future research is expected to examine the effect of Benson relaxation therapy with a larger sample and on other diseases. In addition, it is hoped that future research can provide Benson relaxation therapy interventions with a longer duration, so that the results are more accurate.
