Abstract: Abstract Background: Ultraviolet (UV) radiation from sun exposure can have acute and chronic effects. Long-term effects that can occur due to exposure UV rays include premature aging and increasing the risk of skin cancer such as melanoma. Sunscreen is a cosmetic that is used to protect the skin from exposure to sunlight. Purpose: To determine the level of knowledge and use of sunscreen on students. Method: This study is a cross-sectional study, conducted in November 2023-March 2024 at the second state senior high school in Palangka Raya. The independent variable in this study is the level of knowledge about the dangers of sun exposure, while the dependent variable is the routine use of sunscreen. The data collection technique was carried out by distributing questionnaires. The sampling technique used purposive sampling and the Slovin formula, the number of samples used was 76 respondents. Univariate and bivariate data analysis used the Spearman rank correlation test. Results: Respondent characteristics are mostly aged 16-18 years, have good knowledge as many as 61 people (80.2%) and are compliant in using sunscreen as many as 63 people (82.8%). The significance value obtained is 0.013 (<0.05) and the correlation coefficient value is 0.282. Conclusion: There is a relationship between the level of knowledge and sunscreen use in students.
