dc.description.abstract | Abstract Background: Heart failure patients are prone to various problems. Frailty is one of the problems faced. Self-care is a key factor to support the success of heart failure treatment. Although few studies have evaluated the relationship between frailty and self-care ability, there has been no systematic review examining these two variables. Purpose: To assess the relationship between frailty and ability to perform self-care in heart failure patients. Method: The design of this research is a systematic review using the PRISMA flow diagram and searched for English language articles published from 2013 to October 2023. The databases used were ProQuest, PubMed, Scopus, Science Direct, and Taylor & Francis. The Covidence tool is used for the data selection process through extraction and uses the JBI instrument to evaluate articles. Results: Seven articles were identified and analyzed. All articles used a cross-sectional design. The sample sizes of the reported studies ranged from 87 to 281 people conducted in various geographic regions, including Iran, China, Indonesia, Poland, and South Korea. The association between frailty and self-care was reported by all seven studies. Six studies reported a relationship between these two variables, but one study found no relationship between them. Conclusion: Frailty can affect self-care in heart failure patients. Suggestion: Future research is needed to better assess the relationship between frailty and self-care in heart failure patients.
