Abstract: Abstract Background: Type II diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder that causes blood sugar to rise because the beta cells in the pancreas make less insulin and the insulin does not work properly (insulin resistance) or better known as diabetes. Data from the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) in 2015 shows that 415 million people worldwide suffer from DM and it is estimated that this will increase to around 642 million people in 2040. Purpose: To determine the benefits of tai chi exercise in lowering blood sugar in people with type II diabetes mellitus Method: Case study research using pre and post-test by providing tai chi exercise intervention to type II DM patients to control blood sugar levels. The DM patient was 53 years old, female, willing to be a research sample, took part in an exercise program for 2 weeks, and the patient was not sick at the fit sport clinic and rehabilitation center. Results: Giving tai chi exercises can reduce blood sugar levels in type II DM cases by showing a decrease in blood sugar levels with the results of the first therapy being 307 mg/dl and the third measurement after 6 treatments being 219 mg/dl. Conclusion: Tai chi exercise can reduce blood sugar levels in patients with type II DM. Suggestion: The patient's family is advised to collaborate with medical personnel to carry out physiotherapy regarding the importance of maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle to normalize blood sugar levels.
