Abstract: | Difficult family economic conditions encourage women in Rejosari Village, Karangawen Subdistrict, Demak Regency to work as laborers in the brick home industry. These women laborers are a vulnerable group with low wages and harsh working conditions. The study aims to analyze the socio-economic conditions of women workers in Rejosari village. Another objective is to analyze the efforts made by women workers in improving their family's economy. This research used descriptive qualitative method with the research subjects being five female brick home industry workers in Rejosari village, two brick business owners and a village official. Data collection was carried out by studying literature, interviews, observation and documentation and data validity techniques using source triangulation. Data analysis techniques are carried out through the stages of data collection, reduction, presentation and conclusion drawing. The results of the study show that the characteristics of female laborers are: old age, low education and come from rural areas. These women workers also have many dependents, irregular jobs, low wages and heavy workloads. In an effort to improve the family economy, women laborers actively work outside the home to meet the needs of daily life such as: basic needs, home repairs, health, children's education, skill development and alms. The fulfillment of these needs is also supported by assistance from the government such as PKH, BLT and BPJS. Keywords: Women Workers, Home Industry, Family Economic Improvement |
