Title: Correlation of Hemoglobin Levels with Nutritional Status in Adolescent Girls: A Health Promotion Perspective
Authors: Sari, Rati Purnama; Silaban, Evi Maria Lestari; Merry, Yussie Ater
Abstract: Background: Women during pregnancy, childbearing years, and adolescence are susceptible to anemia. The prevalence of anemia in adolescents in Indonesia reached 32 percent in 2018. The aim of this study was to determine the correlation between nutritional status and the incidence of anemia in adolescent girls. Method: This study is an analytical survey with a cross-sectional design. The population in this study was female students in Padang City. The instrument used to measure hemoglobin was a digital hemoglobin measurement device. The nutritional status in this study used the measurement of the nutritional status of adolescents with the indicator of BMI according to age. Correlative analytical test with ordinal scale data used Kendall's tau testing. Results: Based on the results of this study, it was known that most of the adolescents (71.9%) had normal nutritional status Most of the adolescent girls (87.5%) had normal hemoglobin levels, and as many as 12.5 percent adolescent girls had anemia and were not menstruating. There was no correlation between nutritional status (BMI/age) and hemoglobin levels. Nutritional status is not a cause of anemia in adolescent girls. It is necessary to investigate the prevalence of anemia in adolescent girls during menstruation as a comparison.

Title: Factors Causing Maternal Death due to COVID 19 in Several Countries: A Literature Review
Authors: Mustofa, Vina Firmanty; Prasetyo, Budi; Indriani, Diah; Rahmawati, Nur Anisah
Abstract: Background: Since 2019, the world has been faced with a global crisis. The spread of SARS-CoV-2 has an impact on all populations, including pregnant women, who are among the most vulnerable and at-risk population groups. The worldwide spread of the virus is called the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to explore the factors that cause maternal death during pregnancy and postpartum due to COVID-19 in several countries. Method: A literature review was conducted to explore broadly the causes of maternal deaths due to COVID in several countries. Article search on three databases, namely PubMed, Google Scholar, and ScienceDirect. A total of 7 articles were analyzed. The data studied are cases of death and their causes. Results: The study was conducted in the period 2018 to 2021 with the type of research using retrospective data. When compared to before the pandemic, there was a significant increase in the number of maternal deaths. Factors that increase the risk of maternal death come from direct and indirect factors. Indirect factors such as age, health facility access, inadequate tools, and health services, access to knowledge, cultural practice, and poverty. Direct factors are comorbidities such as obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and immune impairment. Pregnant women who do not have comorbidities can have a poor prognosis with undetected causes of death. Health facilities need to conduct early screening so that direct and indirect factors can be minimized to prevent maternal mortality.

Effectiveness of Health Promotion Videos in Preventing Breast Cancer

Title: Effectiveness of Health Promotion Videos in Preventing Breast Cancer
Authors: Adyani, Kartika; Realita, Friska; Maulidina, Anisa Alya
Abstract: Background: Breast cancer is the second most common type of cancer among women worldwide. Out of a total of all types of cancer (348,809 cases), breast cancer contributed 58,256 (16.7%). Lack of information, knowledge, and awareness about breast cancer often results in adolescents not taking the initiative to engage in early detection, which is the first step in preventing breast cancer. The objective of this study is to determine the educational effectiveness of breast self-examination (BSE) using leaflets and audio-visual media on the knowledge and attitudes of female students at SMA Negeri 1 Bukateja. Method: A quasi-experimental research design was employed, utilizing consecutive sampling. The study included two research groups with a total of 64 participants. Data analysis was conducted using the Chi-square test. Results: The effectiveness of audio-visual media and leaflets in increasing knowledge and attitudes of female students about BSE was found to be statistically insignificant (p-value > 0.05). Therefore, it can be concluded that both leaflets and audio-visual media have a similar effectiveness in improving adolescent attitudes towards BSE. Future researchers should consider utilizing alternative media, such as WhatsApp, for BSE education, as previous studies have shown it to be more effective than leaflets in enhancing knowledge and attitudes among young women regarding early detection of breast cancer.
