Studying Mothers' Knowledge and Perceptions of Adolescent Reproductive Health

Title: Studying Mothers' Knowledge and Perceptions of Adolescent Reproductive Health
Authors: Hartaty, Diana; Martha, Evi
Abstract: Background: Reproductive health education is obtaining information and forming
attitudes and beliefs about sex, sexual identity, relationships, and intimacy. Mothers are
the primary caregivers and have an essential role in providing reproductive health and
sexual education to adolescents. Parents' lack of reproductive health education triggers
deviation; therefore, parents, especially mothers, can provide comprehensive
reproductive health education to prevent free sexual behaviour and sexual crimes in
adolescents.
Purpose: To measure the knowledge and perception of mothers about adolescent
reproductive health
Methods: This is a cross-sectional study with a descriptive design. The study involved
135 respondents who were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Analysis using
descriptive, T-test and Pearson correlation.
Results: More than 50% of respondents answered that adolescents' reproductive health
education should be parents' responsibility and education should begin during elementary
school. There was a correlation between mothers' knowledge and perception of adolescent
reproductive health (r=0.44, p<0.001). Most mothers were afraid of providing sex
education due to their ignorance of teaching methods and their lack of knowledge, and
mothers wanted to learn about adolescent reproductive health from experts.
Conclusion: Mothers want to learn more about sex education from experts or health
workers. They were interested in male/female sexual structure and sexual physiology.
Open communication between mother and child on sex-related issues is essential.
Providing accurate and up-to-date sex education information to parents is vital to
effectively educating their children at home.

Title: Narative Review The Effect of Endorphin Massage and Counter Pressure During Labor On Endorphin Hormone Release
Authors: Rizal, Wadratul Jannah; Yulizawati; Hardisman; Firdawati; Rita, Rauza Sukma
Abstract: Background: Labor pain is a subjective experience associated with uterine contractions,
stretching of the cervix, and descent of the fetal head. According to the World Health
Organization (WHO), every year, 210 million pregnancies occur in the world, and 20
million women experience pain due to childbirth. Of the 2700 mothers giving birth, 30%
experienced severe pain, 20% of labor was accompanied by very severe pain, and 15%
experienced mild pain. Non-pharmacological therapy continues to be developed in the
world of obstetrics, which aims to provide comfort during the birthing process. Endorphin
massage and counter pressure are non-pharmacological therapies that can stimulate the
release of endorphins and reduce pain and anxiety during childbirth.
Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of endorphin massage and counter
pressure during labor on the release of endorphin hormones and their benefits.
Methods: This research method was a literature review study. Journal searches were
carried out by applying online databases such as PubMed, Garuda Portal, ScienceDirect,
and Google Scholar. Articles were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria.
Results: The analysis was carried out on 32 research articles. It was found that endorphin
massage and counter pressure are non-pharmacological techniques to overcome and
reduce labor pain and anxiety through the help of endorphin hormones which are useful
for a smooth delivery process.
Conclusion: The influence of endorphin massage and counter pressure during labor on
the release of endorphin hormones, which are useful for reducing labor pain, reducing
anxiety, increasing comfort, and speeding up the labor process.

Title: Perineal Massage on the Prevention of Perineal Lacerations Among Maternity Mothers : A Literature Review
Authors: Utami, Riezka Putri; Yulizawati; Hardisman; Firdawati; Rita, Rauza Sukma; Lisa, Ulfa Farrah; Iffah, Uliy
Abstract: Background: Childbirth is a physiological process, which is ended by removal of the
fetus, placenta, and membrane from the uterus in full-term pregnancy without action and
complications. During the childbirth there are complications that can cause death, one of
which is the case of perineal lacerations. Perineal massage is an action that can be done
to prevent the occurrence of perineal lacerations in maternity mothers.
Purpose: This study aims to determine perineal massage on the prevention of perineal
lacerations in maternity mothers.
Methods: This research method was a literature review study. Journal searches were
carried out by applying online database such as Sciencedirect, PubMed, Scopus, Google
Scholar, Semantic Scholar, and Portal Garuda. Articles were selected based on inclusion
and exclusion criteria.
Results: The analysis was carried out on 18 research articles. It was found that perieneal
massage can cause vasodilation of blood vessels so that blood flow to the perineum
increases so that the perineal area becomes more elastic. The application of perineal
massage is able and effective in preventing and reducing the incidence of perineal
lacerations in maternity mothers.
Conclusion: The influence of perineal massage is useful in the prevention of perineal
lacerations in maternity mothers.
