Title: Kajian Pengawasan Peredaran Obat Keras di Sumatera Barat oleh BBPOM di Padang
Authors: Thantawi, Firdaus; Erizal; Ben, Elfi Sahlan
Abstract: he phenomenon of the high circulation of hard drugs in unauthorized facilities is caused by the high demand of the community, the low price and the low level of public knowledge and awareness. This study aims to control the performance of BBPOM in Padang, the level of success in law enforcement and increased public awareness. The research is evaluative with a triangulation approach. There were 70 questionnaire respondents from 7 districts in West Sumatera and 10 structured interview respondents from BBPOM officials in Padang and Jayapura. A total of 5 types of questionnaire were validated with a reliability value of 0.8427; 0.8507; 0.7493; 0.7399 and 0.8272. The results showed that there was a trend of increasing circulation of prescription drugs in drug stores by 24%; 45% and 49% while in supermarkets there was a decrease of 17%; 17% and 8%. Law enforcement in the drug sector has increased by 33.3%; 70.0% and a decrease of 18.2%. Consumer empowerment through increased understanding of prescription drugs (92.9% and 100.0%). In conclusion, the performance of BBPOM in Padang still needs to be optimized with a strategy of routine monitoring, consumer empowerment, law enforcement and synergy with related stakeholders.

Abstract: Tyrosinase enzyme is the key in the melanin pigment formation process. Inhibition of tyrosinase enzyme activity, both competitive and non-competitive is the basis for the developing of skin lightening agents. Ferulic acid is a powerful antioxidant compound and can protect the skin from the adverse effects of UV rays that induce oxidative stress. This study aims to identify the molecular interactions between ferulic acid compounds from pineapple peel (Ananas comosus) and their derivatives against the tyrosinase enzyme using molecular dynamics methods. The molecule compounds are modeled using Quantum ESPRESSO v.6.6. The best model was chosen for an interaction study using MGLTools 1.5.6 with AutoDock 4.2. The best conformation of the molecular docking results was then confirmed for stability by molecular dynamics simulation using Gromacs 2016.3. Based on molecular docking results, iso-ferulic acid compounds had the best affinity, with a binding free energy value of −25.06 kJ/mol and has a bond with zinc metal (Zn) on the active site of the tyrosinase enzyme. Then the compound has good interaction stability based on the graphs of RMSD, RMSF, Rg, SASA, RDF, and H-bond. Therefore, iso-ferulic acid compounds are predicted to be used as candidates for competitive and non-competitive inhibitors of the tyrosinase enzyme.

Authors: Umar, Salman; Saafrida; Lucida, Henny
Abstract: profen oral dosage forms marketed in Indonesia were mostly enteric-coated tablets. The purpose of this study was to develop and validation high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and direct spectrophotometric method for the analysis of ketoprofen in enteric coated tablets. The assays and content uniformity test of tablets were carried out by an isocratic, reverse-phase HPLC validated method using 5 µm RP-18 column (250 x 4.6 mm), pH 6.5 013 mM phosphate buffermethanol (40:60 v/v) as a mobile phase at a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min and UV detection 258 nm. The developed methods were validated for their linearity, accuracy, precision, limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantitation (LOQ) in comparison with the UV spectrophotometric method. The HPLC method showed excellent linearity (r > 0.999) in the concentration range of 15 –35 µg/mL. Precision was demonstrated using %RSD < 0.87 and recoveries were good (%R > 99.97). The HPLC method was more sensitive than the UV spectrophotometric, due to the LOD/LOQ values of 0.18/1.20 and 0.67/2.49 µg/mL, respectively. The assays of ketoprofen enteric-coated tablets with the HPLC method were not significantly different from those with the UV spectrophotometric method (P > 0.05

Abstract: One of the goals of pharmacy education is to prepare students to provide appropriate recommendations for minor ailments in the communities. Until recently, research about this ability in Indonesian setting could not be found in published literature. This research aimed to identify the types and appropriateness of recommendations provided pharmacy professional degree students on self-medication requests in low back pain (LBP) case. Data collection in this cross-sectional study was conducted using a questionnaire consisted of participants’ characteristics and a LBP case adapted from the published literature. Appropriate recommendations were determined by an expert panel and findings from published studies were used to define appropriate recommendations. Subsequently, data on participants’ characteristics and appropriateness of recommendations were analyzed descriptively. In total, 86 participants involved in this study (response rate 82.69%). Most participants (91.86%) recommended drugs, 61 of which recommended Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs)—both oral and topical. 70.93% of participants provided appropriate recommendations: analgesic NSAIDs and topical counter-irritants with/without other recommendations. This study showed that most of participants in this research was able to provide appropriate recommendations for LBP. However, further research is needed to explore causes of inappropriate recommendation given by some of the participating students, as an effort to improve learning activities and/or the curriculum.
