    <title>Nursing Students’ Attitudes to the Recording and Protection of Patients’ Health Data: A Cross-Sectional Study</title>
    <link>http://localhost:8080/xmlui/handle/123456789/11550</link>
    <description>Title: Nursing Students’ Attitudes to the Recording and Protection of Patients’ Health Data: A Cross-Sectional Study
Authors: Yılmaz, Dilek; Uysal, Oktay
Abstract: Abstract&#xD;
Background: Understanding nursing students’ attitudes toward patient data protection is crucial, as it can affect their future practice&#xD;
and adherence to legal and ethical standards. The primary aim of this study was to assess nursing students’ attitudes toward the&#xD;
recording and protection of patients’ health data.&#xD;
Methods: In this descriptive and cross-sectional study, 460 students were selected using the convenience sampling method. The&#xD;
intention was to contact the whole research population; however, data were collected from those who agreed to participate in the&#xD;
study and who completed the data collection form, which accounted for 70% of the population. For data collection, a five-question&#xD;
student description form and the personal health data recording and protection attitude form for nursing students, consisting of 31&#xD;
questions checked for language validity, were used. The independent samples t-test and one-way variance analysis were used in&#xD;
independent groups.&#xD;
Results: The students’ mean score on the personal health data recording and protection attitude form for nursing students total&#xD;
was 3.96 ± 0.56. The attitudes to the recording and protection of patients’ health data of female students, in their second-year of&#xD;
study, who had knowledge concerning personal data and health data, who desired to work in fields of practice related to their&#xD;
studies, and whose levels of communication with patients in their fields of practice were significantly better than those of other&#xD;
students (p = 0.001, p = 0.001, p = 0.000, p = 0.000, p = 0.001, respectively).&#xD;
Conclusions: Nursing students demonstrated positive attitudes to the recording and protection of patients’ data, and certain&#xD;
independent variables affect this. The results of the study may provide nursing educators with an opportunity to carry out&#xD;
interventions relating to factors that affect the attitudes of nursing students to the recording and protection of patients’ health&#xD;
data. Qualitative and interventional studies on the research topic with larger samples are warranted.&#xD;

    <title>Nursing Students’ Epistemological Beliefs and Critical Thinking Skills</title>
    <link>http://localhost:8080/xmlui/handle/123456789/11548</link>
    <description>Title: Nursing Students’ Epistemological Beliefs and Critical Thinking Skills
Authors: Çobanoğlu, Asuman; Bilgiç, Şebnem
Abstract: Abstract&#xD;
Background: Epistemological beliefs and critical thinking affect the approach to knowledge and decision-making processes in nursing&#xD;
practice. These characteristics positively contribute to the personal development and quality of patient care of nurses. This study&#xD;
investigated the relationship between nursing students’ epistemological beliefs and critical thinking skills.&#xD;
Methods: This descriptive and correlational study included 752 students studying nursing. The study was conducted with students&#xD;
enrolled in nursing programs at two state universities located in the northeast and west of Turkey. Data were collected using a Student&#xD;
Information Form, the Epistemological Beliefs Questionnaire (EBQ), and the Critical Thinking Disposition Scale (CTDS).&#xD;
Results: The mean age of the students was 20.49 ± 1.73 years, and 78.2% were females. The students’ mean scores were 82.73 ±&#xD;
12.05 on the total EBQ and 43.00 ± 5.35 on the CTDS. A negative and moderate (r = −0.315, p = 0.000) relationship was noted&#xD;
between the nursing students’ mean scores on the EBQ and CTDS.&#xD;
Conclusions: The study results indicate that the nursing students’ epistemological beliefs and critical thinking levels were above&#xD;
mean and that students with higher epistemological beliefs had higher critical thinking skills. According to these findings, utilizing&#xD;
instructional strategies incorporating practice and questioning in nursing education may enhance students’ epistemological beliefs&#xD;
and critical thinking abilities.&#xD;

    <title>Association of Self-Reported Disease Severity with Depression and Anxiety among COPD Patients</title>
    <link>http://localhost:8080/xmlui/handle/123456789/11547</link>
    <description>Title: Association of Self-Reported Disease Severity with Depression and Anxiety among COPD Patients
Authors: Saad Aldabayan, Yousef; Alaban, Antonieto; Fabella, Eduardo; Ismael, Amal; Aldelhafez, Aldelhafez
Abstract: Abstract&#xD;
Background: This study was conducted to estimate the proportion of patients who experience a high impact from chronic&#xD;
obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) on their health status and those who also experience symptoms of depression and anxiety.&#xD;
It also sought to determine whether the health impact of the disease is associated with anxiety and depression.&#xD;
Methods: An analytical cross-sectional study was conducted among 177 randomly selected patients with COPD seeking treatment&#xD;
in various primary health centers in Al Ahsa, Saudi Arabia. The COPD Assessment Test (CAT) was used to determine the impact of&#xD;
COPD on health generally, and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale was used to determine the presence of anxiety and&#xD;
depression symptoms. Multiple logistic regression was performed to determine the association between the health impact of COPD&#xD;
on the respondents and the presence of symptoms of anxiety and depression.&#xD;
Results: Patients who had a CAT Score of &gt;21 were 17.37 times more likely to experience anxiety. Patients with COPD who had a&#xD;
CAT Score of &gt;21 were 5.62 times more likely to experience depression.&#xD;
Conclusion: COPD had a severe impact on the health of nearly 30% of the patients affected. The high impact of COPD on health&#xD;
increases the likelihood of having anxiety and depression symptoms.&#xD;

    <title>Evaluation of the Relationship Between Self-Care and Treatment Compliance in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes: A Cross-Sectional Study from Northeast Türkiye</title>
    <link>http://localhost:8080/xmlui/handle/123456789/11546</link>
    <description>Title: Evaluation of the Relationship Between Self-Care and Treatment Compliance in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes: A Cross-Sectional Study from Northeast Türkiye
Authors: Caner, Enver; Kavuran, Esin
Abstract: Abstract&#xD;
Background: The study aimed to investigate the connection between self-care behaviors and treatment adherence among individuals&#xD;
with type 2 diabetes.&#xD;
Methods: This cross-sectional correlational study was conducted between January and May 2022 in a public hospital involving 191&#xD;
patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Data were collected using the patient information form, the diabetes self-care scale, and the&#xD;
assessment scale for treatment compliance in type 2 diabetes.&#xD;
Results: The mean self-care score was 84.57 ± 14.46 years, and the mean treatment compliance score was 79.50 ± 11.13 years,&#xD;
with a significant negative correlation between them (r = −0.315, p &lt; 0.001). Factors positively influencing self-care were being&#xD;
female (p &lt; 0.05), unemployed (p &lt; 0.05), farmer or civil servant (p &lt; 0.05), hospitalized in the past year (p &lt; 0.01), and exercising&#xD;
regularly or occasionally (p &lt; 0.001). Treatment compliance was significantly higher in those who did not exercise (p &lt; 0.01). A&#xD;
positive correlation was found between age and treatment compliance (r = 0.152, p &lt; 0.05) but not with BMI or diagnosis duration.&#xD;
Conclusions: The study revealed that patients exhibited moderate levels of self-care and treatment compliance. Moreover, as selfcare improved, treatment compliance tended to decrease.&#xD;
