Authors: Lee, Helen SH; Hooi, Lean Hooi
Abstract: Energy efficiency is like the ‘low hanging fruit’ in which improving energy efficiency is one of the easiest
ways to lessen energy demand. Firms, large or small, can make a major positive contribution to energy
sustainability by improving energy efficiency. This research attempts to examine the effects of SMEs’
perceptions in terms of knowledge, government intervention and personal norms on their support for energy
efficiency improvement. A survey was carried out to collect data and empirical testing of the research
model was conducted. The estimated results suggest that the factors of knowledge and government
intervention have significant effects on SMEs’ support for energy efficiency improvement. In addition, the
results show that personal norms is an important mediator variable in influencing SMEs’ decision to
improve energy efficiency. The findings of this research provide some fresh insights on energy efficiency
improvement of SMEs and several notable implications can be drawn from this research.

Authors: Khong, Roy W.L.; Pek, Chuen-Khee; Tan, Hui-Boon
Abstract: The effect of climate change on agriculture and food production has emerged as one of the major concerns
of major global economies, especially given that the global population is projected to reach 10.9 billion
people by the end of the 21st century (United Nations, 2019). Crops react differently to climate change and
hence it is crucial to understand its effect on specific agricultural plants. Specifically, the impact of climate
change on agriculture yield may not be linear. As such, this study investigated the impact of climate factors
on oil palm yield using state level data from Malaysia. The results suggested that temperature and oil palm
yield have a non-linear inverted U-shaped relationship. In addition, rainfall has a positive impact on oil
palm yield.

Authors: Qian, Guo; Sapingi, Raedah; Husin, Norhayati Mat
Abstract: This study aims to examine the relationship between the quality of integrated reporting (IR) disclosure and
firm performance in Asia listed companies. An integrated report score based on eight content elements taken
from the IIRC framework was used to assess the quality of the IR disclosures of 90 Asian companies in 2019.
Firm performance is evaluated using accounting-based measures such as return on assets (ROA) and return
on equity (ROE). This study used a positivist research approach, the results show that the quality of IR
disclosure of listed companies in Asia is sufficient. The study found a significant positive relationship
between IR disclosure quality and ROA & ROE. It shows that the higher the quality of IR disclosure, the
better the economic benefits of the company. The main practical implications of this study focus on calling
for improved quality of IR issued by listed companies in Asia, as it provides evidence for a higher degree of
financial performance achieved through high-quality disclosure of IR.

Authors: Solank, Sandip; Paluri, Achuta Ratna; Singh, Seema
Abstract: This study used bibliometric analysis to derive meaningful insights from the literature related to the field of
defense expenditure and economic development. The analysis covered 381 documents published across a
range of journals from 1991–2021. The Scopus database and the bibliometric R package (R studio) were
utilized to identify prominent journals, authors, countries, articles, and themes in the area under study. The
study's findings revealed a noticeable increase in publications and citations over the years, indicating a
positive yearly growth rate of 2.16%. Among the 161 journals examined, Defence and Peace Economics was
found to be the most impactful, with 99 published articles, 1,743 citations, an h-index of 25, and a g-index of
34. Moreover, Dunne JP published the most papers, consistently remained the most cited author, and
continued to be the most influential author, with an h-index of 12. The USA, China, and Greece produced the
highest number of articles, while the collaborative networks of countries were divided into four major clusters,
with researchers from the USA collaborating the most with researchers from other countries and the
University of Cape Town and COMSATS Institute of Information Technology collaborating the most with
other universities.
